The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on September 22, 2026, notified the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) (Amendment) Regulations, 2026, to amend the Foreign Exchange Management (Export and Import of Goods and Services) Regulations, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•Regulation 5 is amended to reduce the prescribed period from 15 months to 9 months, and the first proviso from 18 months to 12 months.
•Exporters on the Caution List as on September 30, 2026 will continue to be governed by the existing RBI orders until removed from the list.
•A new Regulation 20 empowers Authorised Dealers to handle specified export, import and merchanting trade transactions undertaken before October 01, 2026, which previously required RBI approval.
They shall come into force from October 01, 2026.
